Construction Supplier Register's governance

Find out about the governance and operation of the Construction Supplier Register.

The Construction Supplier Register is a Whole of Victorian Government pre-qualification scheme established and governed in accordance with the Ministerial Directions and Instructions for Public Construction Procurement 6.1. The Construction Supplier Register is administered by a dedicated team located within the Department of Treasury and Finance, as the Lead Department.

The team is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Construction Supplier Register, including assessing, registering and monitoring pre-qualified construction works and services suppliers. Their key activities include:

  • fielding new supplier queries
  • reviewing new supplier applications
  • monitoring pre-qualified suppliers against the Construction Supplier Register’s mandatory pre-qualification requirements
  • conducting annual reviews of all pre-qualified suppliers
  • collating Supplier Performance Reports
  • maintaining supplier pre-qualification information
  • performing project limit and category reviews
  • downgrading, suspending or removing suppliers who do not meet the Construction Supplier Register’s mandatory pre-qualification requirements
  • undertaking complaints investigation and reporting.

The Construction Supplier Register administers the National Prequalification System for Non-residential Buildings (NPS), for contracts greater than $50 million in Victoria, and the Residential Cladding Rectification Register streamlining the procurement of suppliers to remove/rectify combustible cladding.

Additionally, the team can provide customised services to government departments and state agencies that subscribe to use the Construction Supplier Register, such as

  • establishing and maintaining pre-qualification categories
  • developing and assessing alternative pre-qualification criteria
  • providing tailored reports about prequalified suppliers
  • assisting in the development of supplier shortlists.
