Public Private Partnerships Contract Management Training

The course is specifically designed to provide training for public sector employees involved in managing Public Private Partnerships contracts.

The Contract Management for Private Public Partnerships training course covers the commercial and legal dimensions of contract management for Private Public Partnership projects. It is generally held twice-yearly, in both Melbourne and Sydney and run over over five days.

The course fulfils the Cabinet endorsed requirement that all new contract directors and contract managers for Partnerships Victoria projects undertake training (or seek an exemption) within six months of appointment.

Enrolment in the course is restricted to employees of  public sector departments and organisations. It is assumed that students already understand the commercial principles and structures underlying PPP infrastructure projects.

The course is university accredited and can be counted towards a postgraduate certificate or Masters qualification at Melbourne University. For further information and enrolment applications for the Contract Management training course please refer to:

Contract managers' forums 

The forums provide an opportunity for Partnerships Victoria contract managers to network with their peers, share information and experiences, and hear experienced public and private sector practitioners talk on contract management issues.

Forums are held approximately twice a year and are coordinated by the Department of Treasury and Finance.

To encourage open discussion without compromising the State’s interests, attendance at Partnerships Victoria contract managers' forums is restricted to employees of Victorian public sector departments and organisations.

Other training courses

Business Case guidance training

Training is available to public sector employees involved in the preparation or the assessment of business cases. The training is provided by the Department of Treasury and Finance on an as-needed basis.

Lifecycle guidance material applies to all asset-related proposals submitted to the Expenditure Review Sub-Committee recommending a Partnerships Victoria delivery option.

Commercial Capability training

Training is available to public sector employees involved in Victorian government infrastructure delivery agencies to enhance commercial decision making and ensure value for money outcomes. The training is provided by the Office of Projects Victoria (OPV).
