A State of Emergency has been declared in Victoria due to the serious risk to public health posed by coronavirus (COVID-19).

Work experience

A work experience placement is an effective way of getting a taste of what a career in the Victorian Public Service might be like.

The Department of Treasury and Finance welcomes the opportunity to provide students with career development opportunities through work experience placements. We encourage students of all backgrounds to apply for an opportunity to get a sneak peak into one of the central Victorian Departments.

Visit the Our structure page for a list of the different divisions in the Department and a brief summary of what they do. If you are interested in any of the divisions, please have a chat with your Careers Counsellor or Work Experience Coordinator and ask them to send an email to people.culture@dtf.vic.gov.au.

To assist us in determining if a placement can be arranged, be sure to identify the division in which you would like to work. Please note that the Department will only arrange for a maximum of a five-day work experience placement.

DTF also has an informal arrangement Boundless, an organisation that works with students from rural or low socio-economic schools and preference will be given to those students. If your school is a Boundless partner, please discuss potential placements with your Work Experience Coordinator/Careers Counsellor.
