Information and Communication Technology Services

Business objectives

The Government Services Group (GSG) manages and provides leadership in whole of Victorian Government (WoVG) ICT investments. It aims to increase efficiency and innovation in WoVG ICT services so that more public funds can be directed to frontline services for Victorian communities.

Initiatives and strategy

Efficient Technology Services

GSG is implementing a number of Efficient Government initiatives aimed at improving government productivity and the efficiency of our corporate services.

The Efficient Technology Services program will standardise and consolidate common ICT service across 14 government departments and agencies. GSG is working with CenITex , government’s shared service provider, to deliver the program.

The ETS program will standardise common ICT services across fourteen government departments and agencies. These common services will be consolidated into CenITex.

Policies, standards and guidelines

GSG manages a range of WoVG ICT policies, standards and guidelines, on the following:
  • data interoperability;
  • disaster recovery;
  • identity and access management;
  • ICT procurement;
  • ICT service management;
  • major project reporting;
  • ICT networks;
  • information security; and
  • website management framework.

Services

GSG provides a range of WoVG ICT services, including:
  • service contracts (for example telecommunications purchasing and management strategy product suites and software licensing arrangements);
  • investment evaluation, advisory and benefit management (ICT expenditure approval and Factbase); and
  • Victorian Government Directory (Rosetta).
