Our Services

The investment management team within the Department of Treasury and Finance is focussed on further evolving simple and practical investment management practices and supporting their adoption across the departments and agencies of the Victorian Government. The following activities and services are available:

Evolving the Investment Management Standard

Community of practice

A community of practice was established in mid-2006 with the objective of growing the investment management body-of-knowledge and driving its adoption. This group comprises a cross-section of practitioners from within the Victorian Government and meets at six weekly intervals.

Adoption and best practice studies

Studies are regularly conducted to understand the state of adoption across government and to identify any innovations in the way that the concepts are being used.

Building capability across government

As a result of the rapid uptake and the need for both VPS and non VPS support, the Department of Treasury and Finance conduct information sessions and workshops in the Investment Management Standard.

Investment Management information session

Is where you can obtain a grounding in the thinking that underpins the investment management standard and the six individual practices.

Investment Management workshop for facilitators

Is a training session providing the skills to facilitate the development of Investment Logic Maps consistent with the guideline.

Review of completed Investment Management documentation

Investors and Facilitators of the Investment Management tools have the option of sending in their documentation via email to investmentmanagement@dtf.vic.gov.au for review and feedback. These include:
  • investment logic maps;
  • investment concept briefs; and
  • benefit management plans.
The form of the feedback is via email and/or verbal (by telephone).

  • QA Services are performed on behalf of DTF by Group.Joy. Pty Ltd.
  • Group.Joy have committed to a deed of confidentiality and have no conflict of interest for reviewing.
  • the cost of having a QA review will be $375.00 as of Tuesday 1st September 2009.
  • This will be paid directly to Group.Joy. Pty Ltd.
  • A minimum of three ILM's are required for accreditation.
